What Would They Really Want?

Design as communication. Teams found reference designs, extracted design systems with Claude, and built apps that looked intentional. Guest: Brittany Sigler on product thinking.

What Happened

Brittany Sigler's session on product thinking and individualization at scale gave students a new lens on their work. The afternoon builds showed dramatic personality shifts — same features, completely different feel. The design guidelines PRD layer proved its worth.

Key Moments

  • Brittany's talk on individualization at scale shifted how teams thought about their users
  • Same features, completely different personality — the design comparison landed
  • Students discovered Mobbin and Dribbble as design reference sources

Student Highlights

“Adding a color palette and font choice made the app feel like it belonged to someone.”

— Farah

Learning Targets (as planned)

Knowledge

  • Detailed feature behavior specification
  • What features need under the hood — databases, APIs, user accounts
  • Product thinking for non-product founders

Skills

  • Writing feature specs that AI builders can interpret
  • Identifying “reach” features vs. core features
  • Using Claude to reverse-engineer features from reference apps

Mindset

  • Write it down — Claude might know how
  • Ambitious is okay if the PRD is clear
